Life is full of stuff, people, events, disasters, busyness, happiness, and the list could go on and on and on. These workshops are intended to remind us to be intentional with our lives, our gifts, our resources and most especially each other.

Full of Intention Fall/Winter 2017

seek & find – Arrangement, Drawing, Painting, Photography Workshop

Working with the beautiful arrangements you have created, we will study the basic structure, groups and masses of color, developing drawing, color and composition skills. Suitable for creatives of all types, bring any art materials you have and wish to use! Supplies will also be available. Natalie will demonstrate specific drawing and painting techniques and provide individual instruction. Spring will guide photographing individual arrangements. With ample time for you to practice, and improve your skills, you will create lasting arrangements you can enjoy for years to come!

Building Surfaces Workshop

What is art without the created surface? Learn about various surfaces for creating works of art– paper, canvas, wood, etc. and discover the framework for presenting these surfaces. We will stretch our imaginations together as we build surfaces, structures, and frames for your artistic creations!

TRANSFER OF VISION –

Image Transfer Workshop

Give your photographs new life by transferring them to unique and exciting materials! New mediums and surfaces include textured paper, canvas, and wood. The techniques you will learn could also be applied to surfaces such as glass and stone. With multiple surface possibilities, there are multiple ways to transfer images. We will utilize several methods to create works of art you can take home with you. This is the perfect workshop for those searching new possibilities with photos!

 

Watercolor Painting Workshop

Gathered around the farm table…

Start by painting simple fruits and vegetables and progress to the beauty and variety of plants and flowers. Conclude with a still life combining natural foliage, food, and found objects. In your paintings, utilize a color mixing mixing system with particular color palettes given by the instructor. Natalie will also demonstrate a variety of drawing and painting techniques to help you gain confidence in painting with watercolors.  

This workshop is appropriate for all levels of experience and a supply list will be provided for registrants.

Plein Air Impressionist Painting Workshop

Brushstrokes and color play together to create the vibrant canvases of the impressionist artists. In this workshop, you will learn about the artists of the Impressionist movement and characteristics of impressionist painting. Just as they were led outdoors to paint in the natural world, we will paint in the open air. Immersed in the retreat and “city of light”, you will be encouraged to work in an intuitive manner where you can utilize color paired with brushstrokes, to convey rhythm and spontaneity of the moment, as well as, the fleeting nature of light. In the event of inclement weather, we will paint indoors, working from photographs that capture the gorgeous scenery of France. Supply list will be provided to all registrants.

 

Illustrate Nature through Journaling Workshop

Amid the beautiful scenery of the Missouri country, discover the art of illustrated journaling. Whether to record daily experiences, to maintain a workbook, or for the joy creativity brings, journaling can be a useful tool and hobby. Contemplate nature as we walk, photograph, and illustrate to create a work as unique and expressive as each individual. The cost of the workshop includes basic supplies; a watercolor set is optional.

 

Art Journey Workshop

Explore, adventure, journey. Spend the day with us as we view the beautiful travel photography of the beautiful Spring Hansen. She will share stories and memories, and via the aid of her images, we will utilize drawing and watercolor processes to capture the spirit of each location.

 

Casting in Concrete Workshop

Create quaint concrete castings of collected and curio objects. Learn how the living can impress upon stone and express the hidden and overlooked. In this workshop, you will create a sculpture that can become a stepping stone, added to your garden, or even hung on a wall. Bring your favorite large, fresh leaf (or leaves) and any impressionable or unusual textured objects for casting. Workshop cost includes materials to create one large, or two small, sculpture stones.

 

More Than Photography – Mixed Media Workshop

This workshop is specifically designed for those who have attended the Image Transfer Workshop and are familiar with a variety of methods of transferring images. Learn how to enhance your photo transfers utilizing a variety of paints and drawing materials. We will collage items– such as combining multiple photographs, newspapers, and magazine clippings. Upcycling old books, postcards, newspapers, etc. are encouraged!
